This is a SPOILER-FREE (kind of) review for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story or simply Rogue One or for some of the less conforming, Star Wars: Episode 3.5 – Most People Just Heard About This One.
Rogue One follows Jyn Erso –a girl who saw her mother killed and father taken by the Empire– who is pulled in by the rebellion to find her father and retrieve the blueprints for the Death Star so that they can destroy it.
The final outcome on whether they succeed or not is sort of spoiled by the fact that the original trilogy ended 33 years ago and that this is the prequel to the very first film but somehow it still manages to be very exciting, especially the final hour.
The final hour of Rogue One is non-stop action with great direction from Gareth Edwards and it’s more than enough to make up for the slow pace the film takes during some earlier parts.
I won’t say too much about this because I went in knowing as little as possible and you should too. All you need to know is that if you’re a fan of Star Wars, you’ll certainly be pleased with Rogue One.
It may not capture the nostalgia that The Force Awakens did but it is a fun time set in a galaxy far, far away if there ever was one.
What did you think of Rogue One? Was it everything you expected? Did you expect anything? Have you even seen it?
